In keeping with the unique character of the school, all English-speaking classes are integrated for the first eight years, and their studies are based on a commonly agreed upon curriculum.

A British child, for example, may be found in a class alongside American and Canadian children and may be taught by an American, Canadian, or British teacher. The first year of schooling for 4/5 year olds is called International Year 1; 5/6 year olds are normally placed in International Year 2, and so on up to International Year 6 (age 9/10). Ten/eleven year olds and 11/12 year olds are placed in the M1 and M2 levels respectively. Placement in the appropriate class is based not just on age, but also on a transcript or report card from the school last attended, taking previous grade placement and experience into consideration.

UK students attend AFNORTH International School up to age 11 (M1), after which most of them transfer to Windsor School, Rheindahlen, where they board on a weekly basis. German-speaking students may enroll in English-speaking sections and English-speaking students may enroll in the German section, providing they can cope with the language of instruction. The Partner Language Program provides instruction in a second language to all students.
